  • 2022 Yankton Cemetery sign southwest entranceVehicles are required to drive only on designated driveways in the cemetery.
  • Vehicle speed limit is 10 miles per hour.
  • Visitors are forbidden to pick flowers, or injure shrubs, trees, or plants, or mar or deface monuments, stones, or structures in the cemetery.
  • Firearms are allowed in the cemetery only at military funerals.
  • Any alterations to any lot shall be done by cemetery personnel. The City of Yankton retains the right to remove or alter any lot improvements if they become unsightly or pose a safety hazard.
    • Any improvements should be requested through the Department of Parks and Recreation Office for approval.
  • Fresh cut flowers, potted plants and wreaths shall not be allowed on grave spaces longer than 3 days, except during the period from December 1 through March 1, and for the two weeks following Memorial Day. Unless removed by the owner within the above time the cemetery staff will remove all remaining items and dispose of them.
  • All urns, plant material, etc. must be in line with the headstone.
  • The City of Yankton is not responsible for any object placed on or near headstones.
  • One rod iron decoration per grave.
  • No homemade or handmade monuments/headstones.
  • Perpetual lights are not the responsibility of the City of Yankton, even if placed by monument company.
  • Headstones cannot exceed the width of the grave space or spaces owned.
