The City of Yankton utilizes semi-automated solid waste collection and single stream recycling.  Garbage is collected every week, and Recycling is collected every other week on your scheduled day.   Your Garbage and Recycling carts should be set out before 7:00 A.M. on the day of pickup.  The interactive map below allows customers to easily find their scheduled garbage and recycling days.

Listed below are the holidays that affect normal garbage and recycling collection. 

Holiday Collection Schedule

• Christmas Day- December 25, 2023: No Collection. Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, December 26th, 2023.
• New Year’s Day Observed- January 1, 2024: No Collection. Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
• President’s Day- February 19, 2024: No Collection. Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
• Memorial Day- May 27, 2024: No Collection. Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
• Independence Day- July 4th, 2024: No Collection. Wednesday and Thursday routes will be collected on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
• Labor Day- September 2, 2024: No Collection. Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
• Veteran’s Day Observed– November 11, 2024: No Collection. Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
• Thanksgiving Day– November 28, 2024: No Collection. Wednesday and Thursday routes will be collected on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
• Day after Thanksgiving- November 29, 2024: Friday routes will be collected on Friday, November 29, 2024.
• Christmas Eve - December 24, 2024:  No Collection.  Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Monday, December 23, 2024.
• Christmas Day- December 25th, 2024: No Collection. Wednesday and Thursday routes will be collected on Thursday, December 26th, 2024.
