HEALTHY YANKTON COMMUNITY GARDEN RESERVING PLOTS

The Healthy Yankton Community Garden invites returning gardeners still wishing to reserve garden plots to make reservations as soon as possible.  Contact Angie O’Connor, at 605-668-8590.

If you wish to reserve your plots, it is important that we hear from you before March 14th to keep your current plots or if you wish to swap any of your plots. If you have any further questions, please contact us either at 668-8590 or by email: healthyyankton@gmail.com.
New Gardeners have their chance to purchase plots on Monday, March 14, 2016, at the Physicians Office Pavilion Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, located at 501 Summit in Yankton.  This meeting will begin at 5:30pm and is for all new gardeners to learn more about the Community Garden and for new gardeners to make garden spot reservations.
Gardeners are limited to two plots per household; additional plots may become available after early season garden registration.  Garden plots will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.  Garden plots are approximately 12 feet by 18 feet.  The registration fee is $20.00 per plot.  The garden is tentatively scheduled for opening in mid to late April, depending on weather conditions.

The Yankton Seed Library will also be holding a soil and garden preparation class at 6:00 p.m., at the Pavilion.  This is a chance for gardeners to learn about garden types, watering needs and soil varieties.  This class is open to the public and will begin after community garden registration has been completed.  Attending this class will allow participants to become members of the Yankton Seed Library and receive starter seeds from the seed library, which is housed at the Yankton Community Library.
The Community Garden is located along Yankton’s West City Limits Road, on the Marne Creek West City Park, which shares a parking lot with the Dog Park.

Anyone having questions about the Healthy Yankton Community Garden should contact Angie O’Connor at 605-668-8590.  O’Connor and Healthy Yankton invite everyone to put down roots toward healthier lifestyles with a lot of growth this summer!
